On the third day

September 17th, 2008

On Wednesday I slept through the morning yoga sessions and took an easy walk on my own so that I could stop for as long as I wanted in order to take some pictures.

So beautiful. I remember my first glimpse of Switzerland on a dusty, travel-worn birthday. Our train out of Milan was three hours late, and I was thirsty, and we had lost our travel guide AND my daily journal… but then we were suddenly winding through the Swiss Alps which were truly the loveliest birthday gift I’ve ever received.

Gorgeous photos. Isn’t it lovely to be able to take your time with the camera? I read a couple of photography advice blogs and one of them said something about the best shot is often three steps from where you are standing. So this is what I try to do; when I think I’ve taken a good picture, I move to another angle and take some more pictures, even if it’s just getting down lower, or focusing in more closely. And these are the things you can do when you are able to take your sweet time with it.
